Call for evidence: EQUAL’s response to the increase in police power through the Coronavirus Act 2020
As a result of the Coronavirus outbreak the UK government introduced the Coronavirus Act 2020 which allows police officer’s to stop and question members of the public beyond the powers available under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, move crowds from public spaces, award fines and detain those whom they believe have Coronavirus and have failed to isolate themselves.

EQUAL’s response to the ‘Tackling Racial Disparity in the Criminal Justice System: 2020 update’ Last month the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) published ‘Tackling Racial Disparity in the Criminal Justice System: 2020 Update’. This update also sets out the work that has taken place since the Lammy Review recommendations published in 2017.
